Greek Coast, Embroidered Batiste

Today I wanted to show you the dress that I made last summer, but started to really enjoy it only this year during my summer vacation in Greece. White dresses, especially made of English Embroidery or stitched fabrics, are a great summer classic. They work well for the beach vacation or a long weekend in the countryside. With some smart styling, it can fit well for the summer in town. And besides, this year Broderie Anglaise made one of the season’s main trends.

This dress is made of light cotton embroided batiste and lined with the fine cotton mousseline. The dress is based on two patterns from the April issue of BurdaStyle magazine for 2014 – model 120 and 121. Having cut the fabric for the model 120, I decided to omit the little sleeves and follow the model 121, keeping the back detail from model 120.

If you decide to make this dress, please note that this model is for the more than average height. Despite my height of 174, the top of the dress seemed to be a bit too long and loose and I had to make a lot of adjustments to the top of the dress.

The lining of the skirt of the dress and of the back detail is made of fine cotton mousseline. For the lining for the placket parts I used the main fabric.

For the loop fastening I took Mouliné stranded cotton threads and decorated the placket with white cotton lace trim.

The photos were taken at the beautiful Greek seacoast, Halkidiki.
